I’m a lifelong learner and I pursue topics I find interesting. The one constant across a fairly winding path is that I understand things by taking them apart and putting them back together, then explaining my work. It doesn’t matter what it is: a national Public-Key Infrastructure, a thousand-GPU training cluster, a 3D-reconstruction model, or a rover on the bench with its guts hanging out. For fifteen years I did this at Microsoft across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia: as a consultant, architect, and technical lead — on first-of-their-kind projects for banks, governments, and, later, the model builders training frontier AI. I was the person who took a broad, messy problem and turned it into something that ran. In my last stretch I led Microsoft’s AI-infrastructure business across Asia, close to the silicon and the distributed-training stack. You can find more about my proven track record on LinkedIn.
I’m now on a deliberate pause at Stanford’s School of Engineering (Robotics & Autonomous Systems), staying hands-on-keyboard at the research frontier — computer vision, 3D reconstruction, perception — and turning papers into systems that run. Away from the screen I’m as likely to be at a CNC or a soldering iron, or in the kitchen cooking the same dish, over and over again, trying to understand the impact different parameters have on the final result.
I’m based in Melbourne, I read and write in Arabic, French, and English. The projects here are personal: puzzles solved with computer vision, renderers built from scratch, models trained at home, robots, and essays along the way. If any of it is useful to you, get in touch.
